SUPER HEROES Work Here!

May 6, 2020

“Everything doesn’t have to be about fear. There’s room in our line of work for hope, too.”

~ BATGIRL

“Heroes are made by the path they choose, not the powers they are graced with.”

~ Iron Man

At one time or another, we have all most likely been fascinated by a Super Hero. Spider-Man, Wonder Woman, the Hulk… brave, champions for the underdog, always seeking goodness in others, willing to fight for what is right and good, not necessarily without fear, but guided by their head and heart, and intrinsically knowing what is needed.  And most importantly? Underneath it all, human.

Wait! Holy bolt of lightning, Batman!

The description above of a Super Hero? That’s YOU! Yes, you, Arkansas Hospice team member! For those on the front line, rocking their PPE, providing medical care without one moment of hesitation, or offering the most kind and gentle touch with a bath. For our bereavement specialists, who make call after call, holding space and being present with grieving family members who couldn’t hold the hand of their dying loved one or are devastated in their isolation. For our chaplains, who provide the ministry of presence and the promise of grace. For the social workers, helping decipher the maze of paperwork and push through the fear of choosing a funeral home. For the admissions teams, the phone-answerers, the accounting whizzes, the decision-makers, medical records champions who thrive in the details, information technologists who keep our programs running, volunteer coordinators who are doing the work of so many who typically volunteer, for the consistency of maintenance, the supplies orders, the mindboggling work of updated benefits, for the face of Arkansas Hospice through our Foundation, and to our provider relations, who are the powerful conduit for referral sources to our nursing homes and beyond…

Do you want to know what a Super Hero looks like?

You. It looks like you. And not one moment of this weird and challenging time could happen WITHOUT you.

Whether your cape is a mask, a calculator, a phone, a lightbulb, an ink pen, or a computer, KNOW you are making a difference every single day and that every moment of our success is because of YOUR commitment.

WE know and we thank you. From our capes to yours, we thank you.

Be Well…
