North Little Rock, Ark. – Arkansas Hospice, the state’s largest non-profit provider of hospice services, is launching its first-ever “Season of Giving” from November 1 through December 31 to celebrate, increase awareness, and raise funds to support the growing scope of its mission.
The first event, “Arkansas Hospice Day of Giving,” opens November 1 as a 24-hour span of giving and gratitude in support of the mission of Arkansas Hospice, which joins organizations across the nation in observing National Hospice and Palliative Care Month in November.
Additional awareness opportunities being celebrated during the Season of Giving that are at the core of Arkansas Hospice’s work include Veterans Day, International Volunteer Day, National Family Caregiver’s Month, and Home Care Aide Week. “Season of Giving is comprised of a collection of related causes that touch all Arkansans,” said Arkansas Hospice Vice President and Chief Philanthropy Officer Shannon Boshears. “We wanted to give donors the opportunity to not only give but have input on directing where their gifts will be used.”
While hospice care is primarily covered by Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance, there are many unique needs that patients encounter that are not covered by traditional means. As a non-profit, Arkansas Hospice provides services for anyone who is medically determined to be hospice appropriate regardless of healthcare coverage or ability to pay. Boshears added, “Through our Foundation, we receive requests for patient necessities from our clinical care providers. Many of our patients need vital basics as they receive care in their homes. Season of Giving provides the opportunity for Arkansans to help their fellow Arkansans during their greatest time of need.”
